Professor Pooria Madani is an Assistant Professor of Business and Information Technology at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (also known as Ontario Tech University). He received his B.S.c. (Honours) in Computer Science from the University of Prince Edward Island, 2012, a M.S.c. in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick, 2015, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from York University, 2021. Dr. Madani’s primary research interests are in learning-based Intrusion Detection, security and robustness of machine learning algorithms used in adversarial settings (i.e., adversarial machine learnings), security of Internet of Things (IoT), and security of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV).

My research group actively seeks to work with intelligent and enthusiastic students (Undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D.) who are passionate about Cybersecurity and AI. Candidates meeting the following requirements are perceived more favorably:
- Interested in the use of AI in Cybersecurity and proven track record (e.g., publication or a project) in learning-based intrusion detection systems,
- Solid understanding of computer network protocols and the Internet of Things (IoTs), Strong GPA,
- Excellent programming skills capable of implementing/customizing different machine learning algorithms,
- Excellent writing skills (providing a writing sample is mandatory) and high English language proficiency test score (if English is not your first language).
